About Me

Hi There!

This semester, Spring 2019, Research, Genre, and Context was definitely my favorite class. The assignments that were assigned were very creative and different than any other English class that I have had so far. The first major assignment was the research paper. This assignment for the most part was easy. The paper was on the genre we were chose to be assigned to and the topic was on whatever topic we chose to write about for that particular genre. Which being able to write about the main whatever the main point of the genre was, whether it was a book, movie, or etc., it gave us more of an opportunity to be able to write our papers in whichever direction we decided to write the paper on. Also it gave us far more of an extensive chance to be able to write a great paper and receive a higher quality grade on it. The second project was the rhetorical paper. This paper might have been a little bit more difficult but still intriguing to write. I enjoyed doing the research that was a requirement to be able to complete this paper. My genre was television shows and my adaptation was a movie. I had already watched the show before so, I only had to watch the movie. I never seen the movie before and I love watching movies. It was great to find a funny and interesting movie to watch, and the movie definitely was both, and I was able to watch it for free. The last major assignment that we were assigned to do was the Adaptations in 3 genres. In my opinion, this assignment really brought out the creative side out of each one of the students. One of my 3 genres was a photoshopped Youtube channel, and I never used photoshop to the extent of changing faces and text on picture from another one. My confusion began from not knowing where to start it and it was difficult in the beginning. On top of that, somehow the whole project it kept deleting my progress and I had to start over a few times. However, with the help of videos from Youtube, I was able to learn how to save my progress and continue my work. In this course, I learned that there are many different types of genres and that it was not just the only few popular genres that I knew of. Also, that when genres are combined, they are merged together to create a whole other genre and possibly a new one. I have also learned much more, but now is not the time. Not only was this a great class to help teach students about genres and research but, also the instructor was great and it was not difficult to communicate with. He provided a lot of feedback on every assignments he gave us and it helped a lot if you are stuck or confused on what to write about and also corrections on assignments.
