Rhetorical Review Draft 1

The Honeymooners was created in the 1950’s, and only aired for 11 months, from 1955 to 1956. After the last episode, everyone thought it would be the last they saw of Ralph and Alice. I am pretty sure that no one would have thought that there would have been a movie created from the show afterwards. However, in 2005, someone decided that they wanted to create a movie that was basically a reenactment of the tv series. In my opinion, the movie was a success. The movie was made as a modern version of the sitcom and they also changed the race of the important characters of the show. Additionally, the movie was very funny but it was also tear jerking. Ralph on the movie showed way more compassion towards his wife than the Ralph on the sitcom. There were no violent outburst or threats made to her. The movie that was adapted from the sitcom, The Honeymooners, was a successful remake of the show. The creators made the sitcom more into a family movie instead of just an adult television show.

The original show was created in the 1950’s by white people, for white people. There were not many black people casted on tv during this time and there definitely were no African American film producers or creators yet. Also, there were not a lot of African American actors that had important parts in films.
